Terroir and wine-making

The Grillo di Vigna di Pettineo is a white wine from Sicily obtained by organic farming methods. The vines are raised with a Guyot system on the red sands that characterize the soil of the vineyards of Vittoria, located at 170 meters above sea level. The winemaking of the grapes involves a phase of cryomaceration with the skins and a double fermentation phase at low temperature, first in steel and then in French oak barrels. The Grillo is aged in French wooden barrels for 4 months and in steel for another 3 months; finally, it is further refined in bottle for a period ranging from 6 to 9 months. This is how the Cricket acquires its particular notes that make it appreciated and unique.

Notes of taste

The Grillo Vigna from Pettineo shows an inviting bright straw yellow color that anticipates aromatic and woody notes, fine and persistent. Its acidity is never tiring, rather pleasant and vibrant. On the palate it still offers hints of aromatic fruit with a long and persistent finish.

Wine at the table

The Grillo is great to enhance, with its rich aromas, all fish dishes such as seafood and fried foods, and even vegetables.

Curiosity

The name of the winery Vigna di Pettineo comes from the place where the vineyards are grown: the Pettineo district is located in the territory of Vittoria, renowned for the quality of its wines and for the particular terroir that characterizes the island to those latitudes.
