Terroir and wine-making

The Sedàra Sicilia DOC is made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and other red grape varieties grown in the Tenuta di Contessa Entellina. It is here, in the vineyards of south-western Sicily that the Donnafugata winery selects with judgement and experience the grapes to be vinified. The fermentation is carried out in steel with a maceration on the skins for 10 days at a temperature of 25-28° C. After 8 months of aging in tanks and at least 5 more in bottles, the Sicilian red wine Sedàra is ready to be tasted every day.

Notes of taste

Already in the ruby red color, the wine Donnafugata Sedàra invites you to taste with the complicity of an intriguing bouquet of berries made lively by spicy notes of pepper. On the palate reveals its excellent structure that surprises with soft tannins and a pleasant freshness.

Wine at the table

The Sicilia DOC Sedàra is perfect as a wine for daily use. Versatile in combinations, it prefers the company of baked pasta, pasta with fish and vegetables sauce, chicken, roast meat, vegetable seconds and seared tuna. The recommended service temperature is 16-18°C.

Curiosity

Sedàra is not just the name of the red wine signed Donnafugata. The wine cellar is inspired by Angelica Sedàra, protagonist of the film by Luchino Visconti played by the charming Claudia Cardinale. The label shows a portrait of the cellars of Contessa Entellina and the surrounding vineyards, where this special Sicilia DOC wine is born.
