Terroir and wine making
The strong and wild temperament of the Chardonnay grape allows him to resist and get the best from the hot Sicilian summers and the particular terroir that characterizes the area of Santa Ninfa, in the province of Trapani. The grapes grow on a deep alluvial soil, of medium texture, with a clay-sandy silt composition and with a good content of organic substance. From these circumstances derives the particular character, fresh and pleasing, of Cucunci Barone Montalto, respecting the long tradition of Sicilian wines.
Tasting notes
Cucunci is an aromatic sparkling wine and very pleasant to taste. It has a refreshing acidity and minerality, with aromas of yellow fruits and green apple. On the palate it offers very intense and prolonged final nuances.
On table
Ideal as an aperitif, Cucunci Barone Montalto is ideal for pairings with seafood or vegetable appetizers, grilled fish and tartare, with peas panzanella and marinated anchovies. The recommended serving temperature is 10-12 ºC.
Curiosity
Cucunci is the name of the caper plant, a shrub that lives in difficult places with little water. Baron Montalto has chosen to call his sparkling wine because of the strong temperament of the Chardonnay vine cultivated in the Sicilian vineyards.
