Terroir and wine-making
Prio Donnafugata is a pleasant wine, a sweet smile with a Sicilian soul. A fragrant and intense white that gives joy from the first sip. The Sicilia Doc is made from Lucido, or Catarratto grapes, in South-Western Sicily, in the Contessa Entellina estate and in adjacent territories.
The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude ranging between 200 and 600 meters above sea level, from clay-loam soils rich in nutrients, in mild winters and dry and ventilated summers. The harvest takes place between the first and second decade of September, followed by a steel vinification and two months of aging in tanks and three months in bottles before being released for sale.
Notes of taste
The white wine from Sicily has a bright straw yellow colour and a nose full of citrus hints of grapefruit, cedar with floral notes of elderberry. The taste is fresh, in perfect symbiosis with olfactory analysis.
Wine at the table
Prio Donnafugata marries dishes of rice salad, chicken, but also raw fish and fried vegetables. To be served in medium-high glasses at an optimum temperature of 9-11 °C.
Curiosity
The name "Prio" comes from the Sicilian dialect and means happiness, joy. The joy of a woman touching a colourful butterfly with her lips, at sunset on a ventilated island beach. This is the message of the label of Sicilia DOC: sensual and intriguing experience from the first sip.
