Terroir and wine-making
The Negroamaro Masseria Capoforte is a red wine made exclusively from Negroamaro Salento IGT grapes harvested in the last days of September. The vinification process of this wine involves numerous winemaking practices that make this red wine from Puglia particularly valuable.
The first stage of vinification is carried out by maceration on skins in special tanks for a period of 2 weeks, during which other processes are alternated: reassembly, follature and délestage. It follows fermentation at a constant temperature and aging in wooden barrels for about a year. The result is a fine Negroamaro IGT among the best expressions of the quality of Salento.
Notes of taste
The Negroamaro Masseria Capoforte is a wine with a strong ruby red colour, deep and complex. The complex fruity and spicy notes of red fruit blend with cocoa, coffee, vanilla and tobacco leaving on the palate sweet and dry aftertastes acidulous and tannic that make the Negramaro IGT Masserie Capoforte an easily drinkable and persistent red.
Wine at the table
The Negroamaro Masserie Capoforte is an intense red that prefers tasty dishes and at the height of its many aftertastes: it goes perfectly with robust first courses, game and red meat. To be tried with hard cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 18°C.
Curiosity
The Negroamaro is a black grape variety typical of Salento and its origins are as native as its name: it comes from the dialect 'niuru maru' due to its dark color and its typically bitter taste.
